CT vs. MRCP in choledocholithiasis jaundice

RATIONALE Obstructive jaundice can raise problems to diagnostic imaging. The radiologist must choose the most appropriate examination that delivers the most important diagnostic information because the differences between a lithiasic obstruction and a tumoral one are vital. This information helps the surgeon speed up the process of decision-making, because the treatment may be very different in...

EUS vs MRCP for detection of choledocholithiasis.

BACKGROUND Numerous published studies have shown the high diagnostic performance of both EUS and MRCP compared with ERCP for the detection of choledocholithiasis. DESIGN We undertook a systematic review of all published randomized, prospective trials that compared EUS with MRCP with the primary aim being to compare the overall diagnostic accuracy for the detection of choledocholithiasis in pa...

The Value of Magnetic Resonance Cholangio-Pancreatography (MRCP) in the Detection of Choledocholithiasis Key words: Choledocholithiasis, MRCP, ERCP

IntrOductIOn Cholelithiasis is the most common biliary pathology. The incidence of choledocholithiasis in patients with cholelithiasis varies between 5 to 15 percent, out of which 5% are asymptomatic [1]. Although common bile duct (CBD) stones may be silent, the development of complications such as cholangitis and acute pancreatitis is associated with major morbidity and mortality. Therefore, t...

Preoperative MRCP to detect choledocholithiasis in acute calculous cholecystitis

PURPOSE There are risks of common bile duct (CBD) stones in acute cholecystitis, and there is a move among surgeons to identify choledocholithiasis before surgery. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreaticography (MRCP) has the potential to accurately detect choledocholithiasis in patients with acute cholecystitis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive values of MRCP and elevated bi...
